Singapore Employment Pass & EntrePass: 2026 Eligibility Checklist

Employment Pass (EP) — the essentials

The EP is for foreign professionals, managers and directors. To qualify in 2026 a candidate must clear two gates.

1. Minimum qualifying salary

  • General sectors: at least S$5,600/month.
  • Financial services: at least S$6,200/month.
  • The bar rises with age — an experienced candidate in their 40s may need roughly S$10,000+.
  • From 1 January 2027 the floor rises again to S$6,000 (S$6,600 in financial services).

2. COMPASS points (at least 40)

COMPASS scores the application on four foundational criteria (0 / 10 / 20 points each): C1 salary vs local benchmarks, C2 qualifications, C3 diversity (nationality mix of the firm), and C4 support for the local workforce — plus two bonus criteria: C5 (skills on the Shortage Occupation List) and C6 (strategic economic priorities).

EP quick checklist

  • Role is professional / managerial / executive
  • Salary meets the sector floor and the age-adjusted benchmark
  • Recognised qualifications documented
  • Firm’s diversity and local-hiring profile assessed for COMPASS
  • COMPASS self-assessment reaches 40+ points

EntrePass — for founders building something new

EntrePass suits entrepreneurs starting an innovative or venture-backed company who don’t fit the EP salary model. Typical qualifying routes include being funded by a recognised investor, holding intellectual property, or being backed by a government-recognised incubator or accelerator, alongside a relevant entrepreneurial or technical track record.

EntrePass quick checklist

  • Company is (or will be) a Pte Ltd registered with ACRA (generally under 6 months old at application, or not yet incorporated)
  • Meets at least one innovation / funding criterion (funding, IP, incubator support, or notable track record)
  • Business plan and supporting evidence prepared

Which pass fits?

Employing yourself as a salaried director of an established or funded entity usually points to the EP. Launching an early, innovative or investor-backed venture may fit EntrePass better. The right choice depends on salary, the company’s profile and your role — and thresholds change, so confirm the current position with MOM before planning.
